Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Shares Rise on Approval to Begin Service to Cuba

Shares of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and Royal Caribbean Cruises were up Wednesday after the two companies received approval from the Cuban government to begin cruises to the once isolated island.

Norwegian said it would begin service to Cuba in March under all three of its brands: Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Royal Caribbean said it plans to announce its first Florida-Cuba itineraries in the near future, but has not yet released any specifics. It will use two of its three brands to offer service to Cuba: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises.
