Microsoft Names LinkedIn Executive Kevin Scott as Chief Technology Officer

Microsoft shares were slightly higher Tuesday morning after the company said it appointed Kevin Scott to a newly-created role of chief technology officer.

Scott will serve as CTO of the technology firm and join its senior leadership team while also serving as LinkedIn’s (LNKD) senior vice president of infrastructure.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said Scott’s “first area of focus is to bring together the world’s leading professional network and professional cloud.”
