General Electric Wins Orders in Austria, Germany

General Electric Company said Wednesday it has been awarded contracts for eight Integrated Compressor Line units up to 14 megawatt from two European energy operators.

The company said it the technology will help Open Grid Europe and Trans Austria Gasleitung GmbH transport gas across the heart of Europe, responding to the area’s needs in terms of safety, gas transport system availability, and efficiency. The financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. Separately, the company is proposing to invest in three of Nigeria’s oil refineries to improve capacity.

“We were involved in the tenders that started around last year which was subsequently withdrawn but our commitment to bringing the refineries on-stream is still very deep and we are very serious about it,” GE said, according to a statement from Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. “We propose that work commences either with the Warri or Port Harcourt Refinery as a pilot, as we set a target to improve the refinery capacity before the end of 2017.”
